SBCC intervention for demand creation on Chlorhexidine for cord care in Nepal
To combat high rates of neonatal infection and mortality caused by applying potentially harmful traditional substances to the umbilical cord, such as turmeric or cow dung in rural Nepal. An SBCC program was implemented to address lack of knowledge, awareness and practices underlying newborn cord care, and to promote the use of Chlorhexidine, an antiseptic gel, to replace application of harmful substances to the cord stump to prevent newborn infections. SBCC was instrumental to transform traditional unhealthy practices into the use of Chlorhexidine for newborn cord care.

Glad to know about such interesting interventions !
I am very glad to see this post and to learn about such interesting intervention being implemented in Nepal and would like to use this opportunity to share about our intervention as well- Change Starts at Home ( https://change-starts-at-home.com/ ), which uses media (radio and SMS) and community mobilization to prevent intimate partner violence (IPV) against women and girls in Nepal by addressing social norms, attitudes and behaviors that perpertuate women and girl's low status in our context. Our abstract on the use of radio and radio listening groups for inspiring dicussion to shift social norms related to intimate partner violence has been accpeted for oral presentation at SBCC Summit to be held during 16-20 April in Nusa Dua, Indonesia. Would be sharing more details once we know about where and when. Looking forward to hear more about your intervention and sharing ours.
