Polio eradication action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.
 
Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.
 
We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

SBCC Summit - Overview, Webinars, Your Proposals and Abstracts

(With apologies if you are receiving below twice. In support of this Summit we are sharing with both the Health Communication and Social Change groups as this will cover much of The CI network. Please note that the English language version of the webinar Tips for submitting proposals/abstracts - details at this link - is tomorrow as I write - Thursday 3rd October.)

Hi folks - just a quick note with an update on the next SBCC Summit to be held in Marrakech, Morocco, March 30 to April 3rd 2020

1. There is an overview of the Marrackech SBCC Summit at this link. That overview includes an outline the Summit themes and a link to the registration form.

2. This will be the 4th such global in-person meeting of this field of work following the World Congress on Communication for Development in Rome - October 2006 (access the Rome Consensus here); the SBC Summit in Addis Ababa - February 2016 (collection of presentations at this link); and, the Summit in Nusa Dua - April 2018 (see some of the online dialogue here and the debate on the Declaration at this link).    

3. The call for proposals/abstracts for the content of this Summit has been issued. There are details at this link including the range of session formats and submission instructions. 

4. Included in that information are the joining links for webinars on Tips for Submitting a Competitive Proposal/Abstract We have been asked by the lead agency in the Summit Secretariat - Johns Hopkins University CCP - to highlight these events for your attention and involvement. The webinars will take place on Thursday, October 3rd (English), Monday, October 7th (Arabic), Wednesday, October 9th (Spanish) and Thursday, October 10th (French). See times and registration links here following an outline of the proposal/abstract requirements.
