Polio eradication action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.

Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.

We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

What Works? Summit - Extension to Registration Deadline

To: The Communications sub-Committe for the What Works? Summit

Hi folks - just a quick note to let you know that the Secretariat and Steering Committee have agreed to extend the registration deadline for the Summit from Monday March 19, 2018 to Friday 30 March 2018. There are presently 910 people registered for the Summit plus a couple of major orgs have "reserved" 25 places each whilst they get the required travel permissions in place. This is excellent. Along with the 1,200 plus abstract submissions received this demonstrates huge interest and relevance.

But as the absolute maximum conference center capacity is 1,200 there is no down-side to leaving registratione open for a bit longer and seeing if we can fill the place!

If you can get the word out to your networks and members that would be excellent. Can we also pelase ask that in your communications you stress:

1. People can register here.

2. It is first come first served. When we reach the 1,200 number that will be it!

3. The opportunities for organisations to highlight their work and support the Summit cane be reviewed through the sponsorships possibilities outlined at this link. If you can encourage everyone to consider that would be excellent.

4. There are still a few exhibition booths available - details at this link.

5. They can also book auxiliary rooms for any events they wish to organise - see this link

6. The confirmed keynote Speakers can be reviewed here

The agenda will be released very soon and the Secretariat and Steering Committee for the Summit can be communicated through this link.

Thanks - very much appreciated - Warren
