Polio eradication action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.

Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.

We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

Polio and Immunization data

I am starting a new thread related to the polio and immunization epi and trend data in Ukraine. The reaosn for this is that there is a lot of conflciting data. Recently received a note from Anna that provided this summary as the data we shpuld use/quote:

MoH has recently published new coverage data, as recent as July 2016. According to these recently published figures, only 30% of children in Ukraine are fully immunized against measles, only 10% against hepatitis B, and only 3% against diphtheria, pertussis and tetanus. We will be sticking to these latest figures released by MoH.

"Official" UNICEF and WHO data (can provide examples if interested) detail different data.

So, we just need to be clear re any data we use as we move to the action mode on this.
