After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.
 
Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.
 
We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

Hi - Can we please encourage you to encourage anyone you know who will be in New York this week to attend the  RAISED HANDS - PEOPLE, CITIES AND WASH - Evidence, data, strategic insights and conversation with a focus on engagingcitizens for effective priority setting and action on SDG 11 (Cities) and SDG 6 (Water and Sanitation) event on Tuesday 17 July, 2018 - 3:00pm to 5:00pm in the Millennium Hilton Hotel – Manhattan Conference Room - East 44th St between 1st and 2nd Av New York, NY.

There will be a very substantial focus on social change and community engagement including: the strategies the city of Medellin pursued to reduce the murder rate by 95% and the extreme poverty rate by 86%; and the gobal stratgeies that have contributed to 28% reductions in diarrhea (30% in children).
