Polio eradication action with informed and engaged societies
After nearly 28 years, The Communication Initiative (The CI) Global is entering a new chapter. Following a period of transition, the global website has been transferred to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) in South Africa, where it will be administered by the Social and Behaviour Change Communication Division. Wits' commitment to social change and justice makes it a trusted steward for The CI's legacy and future.

Co-founder Victoria Martin is pleased to see this work continue under Wits' leadership. Victoria knows that co-founder Warren Feek (1953–2024) would have felt deep pride in The CI Global's Africa-led direction.

We honour the team and partners who sustained The CI for decades. Meanwhile, La Iniciativa de Comunicación (CILA) continues independently at cila.comminitcila.com and is linked with The CI Global site.

Hi - I wanted to quickly add a few links and questions related to James Deane's recent invitation (at this link) to join the online live stream of the panel discussion launching the Policy Briefing: Coming of age: communication’s role in powering global health.

You can join this launch and panel discussion at this link.

Caroline Sugg's blog on this policy briefing can be accessed here.

We are very interested in your views, ideas and critique of this policy briefing. Please do contribute through the comments faciility at either James's note to the Health Communication network or Caroline's blog

Some starter questions for your comments?

Do you agree with their analysis of the present positioning of Health Communication?

Do you agree with the recommendations for the future that are centered on lessons learned, evidence, capacity strengthening and funding?

Do you agree with this statement: "Never before has communication offered such potential to accelerate progress towards a healthier world"?

Very much look forward to your engagement.

Thanks - Warren
